The articles on "Spiral of Silence," "...silencing dissent," and "...spontaneous social norms are interesting. The extracted idea is people want to feel accepted and will subconsciously alter behavioral habits accordingly. People are inclined to believe they are not as easily influenced as the next guy, but research suggests otherwise. How does one assimilate when necessary without losing core identity and sense of self?
